About
BitUpdate is a Siri Shortcuts update checker shortcut created by me, @ashbit_ , for RoutineHub , a Shortcuts sharing website. It is intended to have an extremely simple setup while also having many useful features.
Here is a table comparing all of the features between the 3 versions:
Speed (sec) | Updater types | Action count | Beta update skipping | Skipping | Skip management | Rollbacks | Announcements | Posting updates | Silent updates | Output codes | Release notes trim | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
BitUpdate [CE] | 1 | Regular, external (group) | 379 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 500 characters |
BitUpdate | untested | Regular, external (group) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | Yea | 500 characters | |
BitUpdate Lite | 0.5 | Regular | 73 | No | Yes | No | Yes | No | No | 287 | No | 500 characters |
BitUpdate Creator Edition
BitUpdate Creator Edition , or BitUpdate [CE], is the original version of BitUdpate, the first beta released on February 21, 2023. It is focused on the developer, allowing them to release versions of their shortcuts from BitUpdate. It has the most features out of all of them and is my testing playground for new features for the other versions.
BitUpdate (basic)
BitUpdate (basic) is the basic version for BitUpdate. The only real difference between this one and [CE] is the absence of developer tools like posting updates and announcements within the shortcut.
BitUpdate Lite
BitUdpate Lite is a much faster and lighter updater than the other two, with execution times averaging under 500 miliseconds! This version contains essential features like update skipping and rollbacks.
Which version is right for you? All of them use the same iCloud folder so switching between them is a breeze.
